Frequently Asked Questions

Do you sell Semi-Skimmed?

We don't do anything to the milk except pasteurise it, so Katherines Jersey Milk is Whole Milk.

Nothing added, nothing is taken away. It is a natural product which varies throughout the year but on average the fat content is 5.5%.

That means it is 94.5% FAT-FREE!

There is also science-based evidence to show that there is a lower incidence of cardiovascular disease in people who drink whole milk.

Are hormones or antibiotics added to cow’s milk?

The use of hormones to increase milk production is banned in the UK. Natural hormones can be found in a wide range of foods and are present in both plant and animal-based foods that we consume.

Milk is rigorously tested for traces of antibiotics under EU law to ensure that food is safe for consumption.

If a cow needs antibiotics to treat an illness, these are prescribed by a vet and the cow’s milk is discarded for a recommended period of time to ensure that the milk does not enter the food supply.

How do I wash out my bottle?

After finishing the milk, give the bottle a quick rinse with warm (not hot) water, to get rid of any milky residue.

Then, either pop it in the centre of the bottom rack of the dishwasher, or wash it with hot soapy water as you do your washing up.

Make sure the lid is clean too – it can go in the dishwasher or be washed in the sink.

Don’t forget to bring it back to refill at our vending machine!

What is the shelf life of fresh milk?

At Katherines Jerseys, our milk is as fresh as it is possible to be. On the bottle we make a recommendation that you consume your Jersey Milk within 3-4 days of filling.
